LACVS LOCAL Project Strategic Launch

Venue: The Invincibles Lounge, PNEFC, Deepdale

Tony Dawber attended on behalf of PCN.

 

Introduction by LOCAL Project Lead Co-Ordinator Greg Mitten and Community CVS and LACVS Chair Garth Hodgkinson.

Speeches by Cllr Peter Buckley, Lancs CC cabinet member for Community and Cultural Services and Simon Lawrence, Lancs CC director of Growth & Regeneration on how the proposed devolution brings opportunity to the voluntary sector and supports improved public health.

Address by Terry Hephrun, former LACVS chair and former CVS chief officer who described why he is optimistic LOCAL project will succeed and said key was collaboration and co-operation and avoiding duplication.

Followed by morning workshops on five topics which attendees could select which to sign up for. Same process in afternoon.

Tony assisted Yak Patel in the ‘Green Spaces’ workshop as co-lead and note taker.

Conclusion was a successful day and again it was stressed the key was collaboration and co-operation and avoiding duplication.
